Call it what you want. The bottom line is that the one thing that's going to give you confidence and make you a better speaker is to know what you're talking about. Simple, right?
Remember when you shared stories of your recent vacation with a group of friends? Or when you told your co-workers just what you think of the overpriced food at that fancy food truck? Maybe you recently expressed your opinion about why your favorite sports team is definitely going to win it all this year?
In these situations you knew your material cold. You spoke strongly and confidently and without hesitation.
In a business situation the same principle holds true whether speaking to one person or a group. Namely, know your material. Rehearse what you want to say. Review your PowerPoint slides until you're comfortable with them. When you know your material well -- when you feel that you're the expert -- that's when you will deliver with the greatest confidence.
